Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has expressed deep concern over the growing phenomena of intolerance and extremism, linking it directly to the global problem of “wokism” and “cancel culture”.

Bhagwat stated that in today’s world, people no longer value dialogue but instead only want their wishes to be enforced. “If we don’t echo their opinion, they cancel us,” he remarked, highlighting a phenomenon that he believes has become a global issue, leaving even parents worried about its impact on their children.

The RSS chief attributed this intolerance to the excessive rise of individualism, which, combined with rampant consumerism and materialism, has eroded restraint and traditional values. In his speech, he referenced Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless warning about the “Seven Social Sins”, asserting that their truths—such as “pleasure without conscience” and “commerce without morality”—are more relevant today than ever before.

Amid these global challenges, Bhagwat presented India as a beacon of hope. He posited that the world longs for harmony, and it has always been India’s role to offer the path of dharma. He clarified that dharma is a universal law that sustains the universe, and it is not an Indian invention. Because of its natural and universal character, dharma spreads not by conversion or preaching, but by practice and example, much like water flowing by its very nature.

Bhagwat stressed that the world does not need preachy lectures or forced conversions. What it needs, he said, is a living example. He concluded with a powerful message that it is India’s duty to be a model of dharma so that the world may be inspired to follow its path, not by compulsion, but by its own free will.
