Brian Littrell refiles USD 50K trespassing suit after sheriff case is dismissed

Brian Littrell refiles USD 50K trespassing suit against Florida woman after Sheriff case fails - Reports

A Florida judge dismissed Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell’s lawsuit against the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, citing insufficient evidence and stating the office serves the public, not individuals. However, Littrell is actively pursuing a separate trespassing lawsuit against a local woman, Carolyn Barrington Hill, for alleged repeated intrusions and harassment on his beachfront property.

A Florida judge dismissed Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell’s lawsuit against the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, ending that part of the legal dispute over beach access. The court ruled that the case lacked sufficient evidence. The decision closes the complaint against the sheriff’s office, though Littrell continues to pursue a separate lawsuit against a local resident over alleged trespassing on his beachfront property.

According to MyPanhandle, Circuit Judge Jeffery E. Lewis dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice on Friday afternoon. Because of that ruling, the claim cannot be filed again. The judge also canceled a hearing scheduled for April 2. Littrell and his lawyers filed the case against the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in June 2025. The singer and his wife, Leighanne Littrell, argued that deputies were not enforcing trespassing laws on their beachfront property in Walton County, Florida. The couple claimed authorities treated the land as if it were public. They said deputies failed to protect their private property rights when beachgoers entered the area. Judge Lewis rejected the claim. The court determined that Littrell did not present enough evidence to support the allegations. The judge also stated that the sheriff’s office’s duty is to the public, not to the individual homeowner. While that case has ended, another legal dispute tied to the property remains active.

As Page Six reported, Littrell has filed an amended complaint against a Florida woman he accuses of repeatedly trespassing on the beachfront property. The singer, known for the hit song “I Want It That Way,” submitted the new filing with his wife earlier this week. The complaint names Carolyn Barrington Hill as the defendant and also lists Littrell’s company, BLB Beach Hut, as a plaintiff. The couple is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for “interest, costs, and attorneys’ fees.”The amended filing claims Hill ignored posted warnings and entered the property “on multiple occasions between April 26, 2025, and the time of filing” without permission. The couple also alleges Hill verbally harassed their property manager by “shouting and cursing,” placed beach furniture on the property, and “videotaped” them without their “knowledge or consent.”In one incident described in the filing, the couple says a Walton County Sheriff’s Department officer “forced” Hill to leave the property. Their attorney, Peter Ticktin, defended the case in a statement to Page Six. “There is no question that the Littrells own the beach behind their house right down to the mean high waterline. That beach is nothing less than their backyard.”Ticktin also claimed Hill has “some kind of misguided agenda” and “insists on trespassing on the Littrell’s property and encouraging others to join her.”He added, “We recently were required to revise the complaint, to conform to certain legal requirements, and we are now prepared to move forward.”Brian Littrell is an American singer and songwriter, best known as a member of the pop group Backstreet Boys. Born on February 20, 1975, in Lexington, Kentucky, he joined the band in 1993. Littrell also released the Christian album ‘Welcome Home’ in 2006 and continues performing with the group worldwide.
