PM Narendra Modi congratulates 'Boong' after win at BAFTA awards 2026: 'Indeed a moment of immense joy'

The Manipuri film ‘Boong’ clinched the Best Children’s and Family Film award at the BAFTA Awards 2026, marking a significant achievement for Indian cinema. As it’s a proud moment for India, many celebrities have congratulated the makers. It is produced under Farhan Akhtar’s banner. Adding to the moment was a congratulatory message from Narendra Modi, who praised the team after the historic victory. PM Modi wrote on X, “Congratulations to all those associated with this film. This is indeed a moment of immense joy, especially for Manipur. It also highlights the immense creative talent in our nation.”Responding to the Prime Minister’s message, Farhan wrote on Twitter, “Thank you Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji for your words of appreciation.” Ritesh Sidhwani also reacted to the appreciation and wrote on X, “Thank you, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi Ji, for your kind words and encouragement. This recognition means a great deal to our entire team and to everyone who believed in this story. We hope this moment inspires many more storytellers from every corner of our country to share their stories with the world.”At the BAFTA Awards 2026, Boong triumphed over strong international contenders such as Arco, Lilo & Stitch, and Zootopia 2 to secure the coveted honour.Directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the film follows the journey of a young boy growing up in Manipur amid social and political unrest. Boong released in theatres in September 2025 after travelling to multiple international film festivals, where it garnered critical acclaim. The project has been co-produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Vikesh Bhutani, Alan McAlex, and Shujaat Saudagar.
