We hope this moment inspires many more storytellers from every corner of our country to share their stories with the world.”At the BAFTA Awards 2026, Boong triumphed over strong international contenders such as Arco, Lilo & Stitch, and Zootopia 2 to secure the coveted honour.Directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the film follows the journey of a young boy growing up in Manipur amid social and political unrest. Boong released in theatres in September 2025 after travelling to multiple international film festivals, where it garnered critical acclaim. The project has been co-produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Vikesh Bhutani, Alan McAlex, and Shujaat Saudagar.
