Rajkumar made son Vir to give auditions for Pritam and Pedro

Rajkumar Hirani made son Vir to give auditions for 'Pritam and Pedro': 'Don't think you're going to get it just because you're my son’

Rajkumar Hirani made sure his son Vir Hirani earned his debut in ‘Pritam and Pedro’ through a proper audition, refusing to hand him the role on a platter. Vir practised hard every night and submitted his best tapes to the makers. The cybercrime comedy-drama premieres on JioHotstar on July 3.

Rajkumar Hirani is all set to launch his son Vir Hirani in Pritam and Pedro, which will stream on OTT. But unlike many star kids, Vir did not get the role because of his father’s name. Rajkumar made sure that Vir auditioned just like every other actor and earned the part on his own merit. Interestingly, it was Vir who first showed interest in the role after watching the auditions happen at home.

Rajkumar Hirani reveals Vir was not the first choice for ‘Pritam and Pedro’

Interestingly, Vir was not the first choice for the role of ‘Pritam and Pedro’. Rajkumar revealed that the team spent a considerable amount of time looking for the right actor before Vir, who had been closely watching the casting discussions take place both at home and in the office, decided to throw his hat in the ring. But his father made it clear that there would be no special treatment. Talking to Hindustan Times, Hirani said, “I told him, ‘If you want to audition for it, do it. Meet Avinash Arun. Convince him because he’s directing it. I can’t impose myself. Even if it’s my film, you have to audition. Don’t think you’re going to get it just because you’re my son.'”

Vir Hirani’s hardwork and preparation for ‘Pritam and Pedro’

Determined to prove himself, Vir threw himself into preparation, practising scenes with a friend every night. He filmed several audition tapes, carefully reviewing and selecting only the best ones before submitting them to the makers.

Rajkumar Hirani marks his streaming debut with ‘Pritam and Pedro’

Rajkumar wears multiple hats in ‘Pritam and Pedro’, an upcoming cybercrime comedy-drama that he has created, co-written and produced. The project is special for two reasons: it marks his maiden venture into the streaming space as a creator, and it also introduces his son Vir Hirani to the world as an actor.

‘Pritam and Pedro’ to premiere on OTT on July 3

Helmed by Avinash Arun, the series brings together Vir’s character Pritam, a tech-savvy cyber expert, and Arshad Warsi’s Pedro, a old-school cop who finds himself reluctantly transferred to the cyber cell despite having little to no understanding of the digital world. The unlikely pair teams up to investigate the kidnapping of a minister’s son and goes up against a formidable cybercriminal portrayed by Vikrant Massey. The show is set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 3. Go to Source
