Ameesha Patel faces non-bailable warrant in Rs 4.5 lakh cheque bounce case; counsel says matter was settled

Legal trouble has resurfaced for Ameesha Patel as a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in connection with a 2017 event dispute. The order came after the actress allegedly failed to appear despite multiple summons issued by the court.According to Free Press Journal, the case stems from a complaint filed by event organiser Pawan Verma, who claimed that Ameesha had been booked to perform at a wedding on November 16, 2017. According to the complaint, an advance payment of Rs 14.50 lakh was made, and arrangements for her stay were finalised at a hotel on Delhi Road in Moradabad.

Organiser claims partial refund, cheque bounce

As per the complaint, the actress did not travel to Moradabad on the scheduled date. The organiser alleged that following discussions, she assured him of a full refund.Verma told the court that while Rs 10 lakh was returned in cash, a cheque of Rs 4.50 lakh issued later allegedly bounced. After the payment dispute, he approached the court seeking legal recourse.Despite repeated summons from the Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) court, Ameesha did not appear, prompting the court to issue a non-bailable warrant to secure her presence.

Responding to the development, Ameesha’s counsel Abhishek Sharma stated that the matter dates back to 2017 and had already been resolved through a settlement. He maintained that the full amount was returned following the agreement. The counsel further alleged that the complaint was being misused and expressed confidence that the actress would appear before the court to present her side and clarify the situation.
