Kolkata College Rape: Nearly after two months, the Kolkata Police have filed a chargesheet in the South Calcutta Law College gang-rape case.
The 650-page chargesheet, submitted to the Alipore court, stated that the medical examination of the woman had confirmed rape, and the DNA of the accused had matched the forensic samples.

“The charges, based on technical, scientific, and circumstantial evidence, ranged from gang rape, forcible wrongful confinement, kidnapping with the intention to cause harm, hiding evidence, misleading the probe, and others,” an officer told news agency PTI.
It further revealed a shocking claim that the prime accused, Manojit Mishra, had made multiple obscene videos of the victim and used them to blackmail her, NDTV reported, citing the police.
The victim, a first-year student at the South Calcutta Law College, in her complaint claimed that she was gang-raped on the campus on June 25 by Manojit Mishra, the prime accused and an alumnus of the college, and co-accused Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee.
The chargesheet has been filed against four people, including Mishra, Ahmed, Mukherjee, and security guard Pinaki Banerjee.
As per the chargesheet, investigators retrieved a CCTV footage of the incident in which the accused are seen dragging and holding the victim hostage.
The chargesheet also mentioned that many obscene videos of the victim were found on the phones of other accused. These clips were reportedly recorded through a hole in an exhaust fan on the wall. The voices of the accused can be heard in the videos, and forensic tests have confirmed that the samples match.
The mobile location of the accused was found at the crime scene, the report added.
The police said that instead of alerting the authorities or nearby people, the security guard locked the guard room during the assault.
As per the chargesheet, Mishra had been arrested eight times before that incident. But his friends have bailed him out.
Who Is Manojit Mishra?
Manojit Mishra graduated from South Calcutta Law College in 2022. Even after passing out of the institute, he reportedly maintained considerable influence on campus.
After graduation, he began practising at Alipore Law College.
During his student years, Mishra was known for his strong-arm tactics and had been linked to multiple incidents of assault.
As per the TMCP’s official Facebook page, he currently holds the position of Organising Secretary for the South Kolkata district unit of the organisation.
Mishra also served as the President of the TMCP unit at South Calcutta Law College in 2017.
What’s The Case?
In her complaint lodged on June 26, the victim said she had gone to the college to fill a form for a test and was forced to stay back in the union room even after it was completed.
“Then one of the three accused proposed her to marry but she refused telling them she was already in a relationship,” the police officer said as reported by the news agency.
Subsequently, Mishra allegedly ordered the campus gate to be locked. In the evening, he expressed romantic interest and made unwanted advances, which she rejected. She alleged that he then forced himself on her.
“I denied and fought back. I cried and asked him to let me go. I told them I have a boyfriend and I love my boyfriend. But he did not listen,” she told the police.
Mishra allegedly threatened to harm her boyfriend and falsely implicate her parents in criminal cases before confining her within the college premises. She alleged in her complaint that he hit her with a hockey stick. During the incident, she experienced breathing difficulties and asked for an inhaler. After using it, she was taken to the security guard’s room on the ground floor, next to the students’ union office, where the assault allegedly continued.
“I touched his feet but he didn’t let me go …,” she told the police in the complaint, adding that while Mishra was allegedly raping her, the other two stood by and watched.
The three accused were arrested on June 26 and booked under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while security guard Pinaki Banerjee was also apprehended the next day on charges of abetting the crime by not coming to the help of the woman, and allowing the perpetrators to use his room on the campus for the crime.
