Blake-Justin end Day 1 with ‘NO SETTLEMENT’

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni end Day 1 with 'NO SETTLEMENT' in USD 550 million suit: 'Case will move forward'

The court-ordered settlement talks between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni in their ongoing USD 550 million lawsuit, have concluded without a resolution at the end of Day 1. All eyes on Wednesday turned to the Manhattan’s Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse where Baldoni arrived with his wife by his side, while Blake arrived solo, without her superstar husband, Ryan Reynolds. The ‘It Ends With Us’ actors arrived with their legal teams, ready to battle it out before Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni do not reach settlement

However, after hours of a closed-door settlement conference, attempts to reach an agreement proved “unsuccessful.” With this, the case stands to likely head for trial this summer.Lively and Baldoni both exited the courthouse around 1 p.m. PT following the conference. On their exit, Justin maintained his composure and was seen smiling at the cameras. Blake, on the other hand, looked rather tense as she made her way to the car, without offering reporters any comment on the case.

Justin Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman on ‘settlement deal’

Meanwhile, Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman told reporters outside the courthouse, “The case will move forward.”When asked about reaching a settlement, Bryan said, “No! No settlement reached today.” When probed further about a possible settlement being reached in the days ahead, he confirmed saying, “We’ll see… There’s always a chance.”When asked about the possibility of the case going to trial, Freedman said he was “looking forward to it,” referring to the jury trial currently scheduled for May 18. As per Deadline, he added pessimistically that he did not “know that we will” resume talks on a pre-trial deal.

About the USD 550 million lawsuit

Although the two have previously been in the same room during earlier proceedings, Wednesday marked the first time they appeared in court simultaneously since Lively sued Baldoni in federal court for sexual harassment and retaliation, alleging that he and the producers of ‘It Ends With Us’ launched a smear campaign against her after she complained about conditions on the set of the film.
