NOT ‘Don 3’, Priyanka eyeing ‘James Bond’ role

Priyanka Chopra sparks buzz about ‘James Bond’ casting amid ‘Don 3’ chatter: 'It could be truly global now'

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has set tongues wagging again, this time over the possibility that she may secretly be in the running to star in the next ‘James Bond’ film. The actress, in her latest interview, shared her thoughts about the next chapter in the iconic 007 saga, after the Amazon MGM acquisition of creative control over the long-running franchise. Skirting around the subject, she teased that the project “could be truly global now.”Speaking to Variety, she said, “It could be truly global now, yeah, a change of hands. I’d be really curious to see what lane they pick.”Her responce to the buzz sparked chatter among fans, who asked, “#PriyankaChopraJonas is being considered as the next Bond Girl ???!!!! Holy sh!t” Still another commented, “Priyanka next bond girl ???”Another said, “hope this materializes… the thought of her being directed by Denis Villeneuve…” These comments come just days after she, in another interview, kept the door open on her possible return to the iconic Indian ‘Don’ franchise, after two successful stints with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. In a newly released video interview with Screen Rant, Priyanka was questioned about the possibility of revisiting ‘Don’ and ‘Krrish’ franchises. Addressing the speculation, the actress said, “I don’t know if I can talk about either of them at all.” Her response prompted co-star Mahesh Babu to quip, “Then there’s something happening.”There has been no official reports or casting updates about the Chopra landing any of the three projects. As per the report, Priyanka’s long standing collaboration with Amazon sparked the buzz about the possible feature in Bond 26, the banner’s first official entry in the 007 universe since taking over from the Broccoli family. She headlined the Russo Brothers-produced series ‘Citadel’ and starred in the action thriller ‘Heads of State’ alongside John Cena and Idris Elba. She will also be seen in ‘The Bluff’ that will have a digital release on February 25. The next Bond chapter is already taking shape behind the scenes. Amazon MGM announced in June 2025 that director Denis Villeneuve, best known for his work on the ‘Dune’ franchise, will direct the new instalment. In a statement, the director said, “I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honour.”Villeneuve reportedly beat out a competitive list of directors including Edward Berger, Paul King, Edgar Wright, Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan. As for the next 007, Priyanka’s ‘Citadel’ co-star Richard Madden was also once tipped as a frontrunner to replace Daniel Craig, though he dismissed the rumours. “It’s all just noise,” Madden told Elle. “By March, there will be another British TV show with another young male actor, and then he’ll be the next James Bond for the following two months.”Currently, ‘Wuthering Heights’ star Jacon Elordi has been in the news over rumours that he could just be in the running to play the next Bond.
