As the gruesome murder of a 28-year-old woman – Nikki – in Greater Noida came to light, her father demanded that the accused husband be shot dead in an encounter for killing his daughter by setting her on fire, according to a report.

He also alleged that Vipin Bhati, the accused husband, was in a relationship with someone else and wanted Nikki out of the way.

A shocking murder case came to the fore in Greater Noida on Saturday after Vipin was arrested for allegedly brutally assaulting his wife and setting her on fire over a Rs 36 lakh dowry demand at their residence in Sirsa. The horrific videos of the incident surfaced online, showing him beating her and her on fire on the stairs. As she was being transferred from Fortis Hospital in Noida to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.

Demanding the strictest punishment for his daughter’s killers, Nikki’s father, Bhikari Singh Payla, told NDTV, “They are killers, they should be shot, their home razed. My daughter was bringing up her son by running a parlour. They tortured her. The whole family was involved in the conspiracy, and they killed my daughter.”

He said that Nikki did not want him to worry about her and she tried her best to make the marriage work. “But they are killers,” he said.

He further urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that Vipin, the accused husband, should be killed in an encounter.

“They shoot pickpockets in the leg, and they won’t kill these murderers? This is a BJP government,” he told NDTV.

The father said that his family met all the demands from Nikki’s in-laws, yet they killed his daughter.

“First, they demanded a Scorpio in dowry, which was given. Later, they asked for a Bullet motorcycle, and that too was provided. Yet, they kept torturing my daughter,” he told India Today TV.

The father had recently purchased a Mercedes, which was the latest to catch Vipin’s greedy eye, and he had been demanding it also, the report said.

Nikki was attacked by her in-laws in Greater Noida. They dragged her by the hair and set her on fire in front of her young son and her sister, who is also married into the same family. Her husband, Vipin, has been arrested, while police are looking for the others. A case has been filed against four family members — Nikki’s husband, her mother-in-law, her father-in-law, and her sister’s husband.
