Continuous downpours have thrown life out of gear in Rajasthan, with several districts inundated, roads washed away, and connectivity cut off.

Authorities confirmed two rain-related deaths and said hundreds of people had been shifted to safer locations as more showers are expected in the coming days.

The worsening situation has prompted large-scale rescue operations, with the Army, NDRF, and SDRF being pressed into service. The Air Force has kept a Mi-17 helicopter on standby to assist in evacuations and relief work.

8 Districts Under Distress

Eight districts are under severe distress, with Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, and Bundi reporting the worst conditions.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Nainwa in Bundi recorded 502 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, the highest in the state.

Two women have lost their lives in separate incidents — one swept away by strong flood currents in Bundi and another killed when a tin shed wall collapsed on a farm.

Sawai Madhopur remains among the hardest hit, with more than 30 villages marooned and over one lakh residents affected due to incessant rain and the overflow of the Surwal dam.

In Bundi, localities such as Nainwa, Kapren, and Keshoraipatan are facing severe flooding.

During rescue work, a tractor carrying SDRF personnel and villagers overturned, leaving one team member injured. Despite the setback, joint operations by the Army, SDRF, and NDRF are continuing in flood-hit regions.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reviewed the relief measures and ordered a special survey to assess crop and property losses.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla visited affected zones, directing officials to expedite rehabilitation efforts.

Road, Rail Link Badly Hit

Transport networks have been badly disrupted, said officials.

The highway connecting Rajasthan to Madhya Pradesh is submerged, while roads linking Kota to Jaipur and nearby districts are also underwater.

Train services have been hit in multiple stretches.

The weather office has issued a yellow alert, warning of more heavy rain that could worsen the crisis. Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and avoid venturing out unnecessarily.
