Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026: PM Modi Explains Why Exam Marks Should Not Define Students

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with students, parents and teachers during the 2026 edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, offering practical guidance on handling exam pressure, staying focused and setting meaningful life goals. Addressing concerns around stress and performance anxiety, the Prime Minister emphasised that examinations should not be seen as the ultimate aim of life, but as a medium for overall personal growth. Responding to a student’s question on maintaining focus during exams, PM Modi said that while some teachers focus on teaching only what helps students score marks, good teachers concentrate on the entire syllabus to ensure holistic development. Drawing a cricket analogy, he said a bowler cannot remain fit by exercising only the shoulders; the whole body must be trained. Similarly, education should nurture the complete personality, not just exam scores. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of time management, emotional well-being and self-motivation, encouraging students to support and motivate their peers as well. He underlined that the ultimate goal of education should be lifelong development and self-confidence, not just marks in examinations.
