The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has issued a comprehensive directive mandating a structured routine of weekly parades, daily physical training (PT)/yoga sessions, and sports activities for all personnel—including those serving in medical, technical, and signal units. The initiative aims to reinforce discipline, physical fitness, and regimental cohesion across the country’s largest paramilitary force.

Under this directive, all formations are required to submit monthly reports detailing the conduct and participation in these activities.

In its order, the CRPF emphasised:

“The practice of regular parade, physical training (PT), and sports participation is not merely ceremonial; it is a mission-critical necessity. These activities directly enhance operational readiness, strengthen cohesion, and boost morale across all combatised members of the Force.”

Approved by the Director General of CRPF, the directive highlights that the force’s operational commitments demand that every officer and member—whether engaged in field operations or posted to static duties—maintain high levels of physical fitness, mental toughness, and precise drill standards.

Weekly Parades

All Group Centres, Battalions, and specialised units such as the Rapid Action Force (RAF), VIP Security (VS), CoBRA, and Signal Battalions must now conduct parades every Monday. Combatised personnel posted in Zones, Sectors, Ranges, and Composite Hospitals are required to participate at least once a month. Personnel at the Directorate General will join rotational weekly parades held at the Special Duty Group, Old JNU Campus, New Delhi.

Daily PT/Yoga Sessions

Units are instructed to organise one-hour PT or yoga sessions on all working days, excluding designated parade days. Trained PT instructors and certified yoga professionals are to be engaged to ensure quality and consistency. All officers—including those in administrative assignments—must participate in at least one session per week.

Sports and Games

The directive also underscores the critical role of sports in building morale and fostering teamwork. It notes:

“To encourage cohesiveness, team spirit, mutual trust, healthy competition, and to develop strategic thinking, quick decision-making, and adaptability under pressure, sports and games serve as effective and authentic tools. They provide sustained recreation and significantly enhance morale, especially during prolonged static or high-stress duties.”

All CRPF units will conduct daily sports activities under a rotating “3+1″ format, covering cricket, football, volleyball, and athletics. Senior officers have been explicitly instructed to join team sports alongside jawans to build camaraderie and reinforce a shared sense of purpose.
