Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s last rites are underway in Baramati with full state honors. Religious rituals and mantras are being performed over his mortal remains. His family members—including Sunetra Pawar, Supriya Sule, and his sons Jai and Parth Pawar—are present on the stage, along with senior leaders such as Sharad Pawar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, and other cabinet ministers. Thousands of supporters and party workers have gathered for the final viewing, forming long queues across the grounds and surrounding roads. Chants of “Ajit Dada Amar Rahe” (Long live Ajit Dada) echo across the crowd. Ajit Pawar had a guru-disciple and uncle-nephew relationship with Sharad Pawar and played a key role in the development of Baramati and women’s empowerment initiatives in Maharashtra. His passing is a huge loss to both his family and the political landscape of the state. The funeral procession and rituals are proceeding according to tradition, with strict security and traffic arrangements in place to manage the massive crowd.
