Maharashtra Mourn: Family and NCP Leaders Emotional During Ajit Pawar’s Last Rites

Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s veteran leader and multiple-term Deputy Chief Minister, was laid to rest today in Baramati with full state honors. His mortal remains were first brought to his ancestral Katewadi Farm for public viewing, where thousands of supporters, party workers, and citizens gathered to pay their respects, chanting “Ajit Dada Amar Rahe.” From there, the procession moved to Vidya Pratishthan for the cremation, attended by senior political leaders, including Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Devendra Fadnavis, and NCP president Sharad Pawar, along with Supriya Sule. The funeral rites were marked by emotional scenes as his wife Sunetra Pawar, children Parth and Jai Pawar, and other family members participated in rituals with flowers, tulsi garlands, and holy water. Leaders and citizens recalled Ajit Pawar’s visionary leadership, his role in developing Baramati, contributions to the cooperative sector, and his connection with farmers and the common people. The atmosphere reflected profound grief, highlighting the political and emotional void left by his passing. State authorities had ensured proper arrangements for security and crowd management, while thousands lined up to have a final glimpse of the veteran leader. Maharashtra has declared three days of state mourning in his memory.
