Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private (SAVWIPL) has crossed the 50,000-unit production milestone for its Škoda Kylaq model, underscoring the group’s expanding manufacturing footprint in India and its focus on localisation.

The Kylaq has emerged as a key contributor to the group’s performance in India, supporting a 36 per cent year-on-year growth in 2025, the company said. The milestone reflects increased scale at its Indian operations and higher localisation levels aligned with the government’s Make in India initiative.

Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy, who attended the milestone event, congratulated the company for its continued commitment to domestic manufacturing. “I congratulate Škoda Auto Volkswagen India on achieving this production milestone and for their continued commitment to the ‘Made in India’ initiative,” he said.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, said the milestone highlighted customer confidence in the product. “The 50,000-unit milestone for the Kylaq reflects the trust customers have shown in a vehicle designed and developed in India on the MQB-A0-IN platform, both for domestic and global markets,” he said.

To support Kylaq production, SAVWIPL has increased capacity at its Chakan manufacturing facility by 30 per cent. The company has also stepped up engagement with domestic suppliers to further raise localisation levels, strengthening its local sourcing and engineering ecosystem.
