Marvel Rivals streamer Kingsman265 has seen a massive rise in popularity on Twitch after being removed from a $40,000 creator tournament. The incident happened on January 18 during practice sessions for the event, when Kingsman asked a teammate to swap heroes to improve the team’s overall composition. What started as a normal competitive suggestion quickly turned into a heated argument. His teammates responded aggressively, telling him to “shut the f*ck up,” and later decided to continue without him. Kingsman was left watching from the sidelines as the team was eliminated in the first round. The fallout from the situation spread quickly across social media and the Marvel Rivals community. Many viewers sided with Kingsman, criticizing the behavior of his former teammates. The team’s captain, Cecee, along with other members, later apologized publicly for how they treated him. However, the damage was already done. Several sponsors reportedly cut ties with the team, and clips of the argument were widely shared and mocked online. What could have been a career setback for Kingsman instead turned into a turning point.

Kingsman265 turns tournament controversy into Twitch success

Following the controversy, Kingsman265 experienced explosive growth on Twitch. He was officially accepted into the Twitch Partner Program, giving him access to subscriptions on his channel for the first time. By his January 21 stream, Kingsman had gained more than 10,000 new subscribers and crossed 110,000 followers. The support was so strong that he asked viewers to stop donating after he had already received over $3,000, the same amount he would have earned by winning the tournament. Kingsman openly told his audience that he did not want people to feel pressured to give him money. He explained that the support meant more to him than the cash itself. The sudden increase in viewers even caused technical issues, forcing him to reboot his computer after several hours of streaming due to lag and overloaded programs. The Marvel Rivals developers also showed support by granting Kingsman in-game credits, allowing him to purchase skins for the character Magik. The streamer reacted with shock on stream, saying he could not believe the developers had reached out to him directly. While it is still unclear whether this surge in popularity will last long term, Kingsman265 is currently one of the most talked-about creators in the Marvel Rivals scene. For now, the controversy has unexpectedly pushed him to new heights.
