The mysterious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna has taken a fresh turn, further intensifying questions over the investigation and the role of law enforcement. The victim’s family has levelled serious allegations against the Special Investigation Team (SIT), accusing it of harassment and exerting undue pressure in the name of investigation. The family has openly stated that they have lost faith in the SIT and fear that the probe is being deliberately diverted. According to the family, they are being repeatedly questioned for long hours without any clear progress, while key lapses in the investigation remain unaddressed. They have also raised doubts over the post-mortem report, alleging inconsistencies and claiming that established protocols were not followed. The post-mortem report has now been sent to AIIMS Patna for re-examination following these objections. Meanwhile, SIT sources claim that crucial evidence has emerged, suggesting that the student had been consuming sleeping pills and anti-depressants for a prolonged period. Investigators say the student purchased six strips of sleeping medication from a medical store in Jehanabad on December 27, in the presence of her father. The SIT has traced the medicine through batch numbers and is examining the possibility of drug overdose.
