BMW Group India on Friday announced it has surpassed the milestone of 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) deliveries in the country, becoming the first luxury automaker to achieve this feat, IANS reports.

Marking the occasion, the company also inaugurated a 4,000-kilometre high-power charging corridor stretching from North to South India. Covering major national highways and cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubballi, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Madurai, the corridor features fast chargers at intervals of every 300 km to support long-distance EV travel.

BMW said the chargers will be accessible to all EV users across brands and will offer capacities ranging from 120 kW to 720 kW. The stations have been located at public places such as cafes and restaurants, allowing users to make quick stops while their cars are charged.

Integration through BMW’s in-app and in-car digital tools will provide live charger status, partner preferences, charger capacity filters, and nearby amenity information.

“This achievement is not just a number; it represents our unwavering commitment to e-mobility and pioneering spirit in the premium EV landscape,” said Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India.

In partnership with charging operators such as Statiq and Zeon, BMW is expanding its public charging network, which already includes 300 destination chargers at hotels, resorts and malls.

The company now offers access to over 6,000 public charging points nationwide through its strategic collaborations, strengthening its position in India’s growing EV ecosystem.
