Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday sacked two government employees for their alleged link with a terrorist group, by invoking Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, news agency ANI reported.

A probe into the matter revealed that a teacher in Karnah and an Assistant Stockman in Keran, both in Kupwara district, were secretly working for the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Law enforcement and intelligence agencies gathered strong evidence against them.

Earlier in June this year, Sinha terminated three government employees suspected of having ties with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), highlighting his administration’s firm stance against terrorism.

Since assuming office in August 2020, the LG has maintained his focused on dismantling terrorism’s support networks, including overground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers embedded in government jobs.

Under his leadership, security forces have neutralized hundreds of terrorists across the Union Territory between 2020 and 2024. Additionally, more than 70 OGWs and terror associates have been removed from government positions using Article 311(2)(c).

This action comes months after the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, in which terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in the Baisaran valley.

On July 28, security forces eliminated three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack during an encounter in Srinagar’s Harwan area.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the terrorists’ elimination during Operation Mahadev, stating in the Lok Sabha that those responsible for the terror attack were neutralized in a joint operation by the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police. The Home Minister condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the victims’ families.

In retaliation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror launch pads deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack, in May.
