The legal dispute regarding Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore estate has now taken a new turn as his widowed wife Priya Sachdev has moved to Supreme Court. She has filed a plea asking for Sunjay and Karisma’s divorce documents. For those not in the know, Karisma was married to Sunjay in 2003 and their divorce was finalised in 2016. After Kapur’s sudden demise in June 2025, Karisma’s children went to the Delhi High Court and alleged that Priya has forged their father’s will. As reported by ANI, the Supreme Court on Friday asked actor Karisma to respond to a plea filed by Priya Sachdev Kapur, who is seeking certified copies of her divorce. Reacting to it, Sunjay’s sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, has publicly reacted to Priya’s demand, calling it a deliberate distraction from the larger dispute.Mandhira questioned Priya’s intent behind the move. She told ANI, “It’s trying to divert what is going on. Firstly, if my brother wanted to share this with her, he would have shared it with her while they were married. So, I don’t understand why she is trying to play all this when she has already showed this in court. So yes it is to divert from what is going on in reality.” She further argued that divorce proceedings should remain private, especially when children are involved. “I think a divorce is confidential. They (Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur) have children together. It’s not like it’s a divorce without children. I don’t think it’s anybody’s business, except for the two people who are involved in it. It is none of her business,” Mandhira added.According to reports, Priya wants to verify details linked to financial settlements and child custody arrangements finalised between the former couple, which is why, she has asked for the divorce documents. Sunjay had two children with Karisma. They welcomed daughter Samaira in 2005 and son Kiaan in 2011. After their divorce was finalised in 2016, Sunjay later married Priya Sachdev, and they had a son, Azarias.
