Millie Bobby Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi surprised all when they announced that they secretly welcomed their first child, a daughter, through adoption.

“This summer, we welcomed out sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” the couple wrote in a social media statement. While the baby announcement has come as a pleasant surprise to many, the 21-year-old ‘Stranger Things’ star has seemingly made no secret about wanting to start a family. As fans were buzzing with excitement about this new chapter in the star’s life, Brown’s old interview has resurfaced, where she spoke about her desire to start a family.
Why Millie wanted to be a mom at 21
Speaking on the Smartless podcast in March 2025, she revealed her inspiration behind wanting to embrace motherhood. She shared, “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake. Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”Brown, who is married to 23-year-old model Jake, also added that her husband “knows how important it is to me”. At the time, although she admitted that being a mom was on top of her list, she stated, “of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it’s so important to start a family for me personally. It’s a huge thing.”She also revealed her husband’s condition to starting a family early. She shared, “Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.”
Hinted at adoption
In the same chat, she also shared her desire to adopt children. The actress, who is one of four children, shared her plans for expanding their family in the future. She said, “I really want a big family. I’m one of four. He’s one of four. So, it is definitely in our future, but, for me, I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting. My home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we kind of stand by, Jake and I, is our energy in the house is the door is always open, and we want everyone to feel really comfortable.”
On the work front
Brown gained recognition for her starring role as Eleven in the Duffer brothers’ sci-fi series ‘Stranger Things’. The fifth and final season will air this November and December, a culmination of nine years of the show’s production. The British actor has pursued other acting and business ventures in that time, including ‘Enola Holmes’ films and a ‘Godzilla’ film. She even released a romance book in 2023.Bongiovi is the son of Jon Bon Jovi, founder and frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi. Bongiovi debuted his own acting career as the star in ‘Rockbottom’, which was released last year.The couple lives on a Georgia farm, where she cares for a number of animals, including sheep, goats, cows and donkeys. She also has a tuxedo cat and therapy dog Winnie.
