With Dhurandhar, Sanjay joins DP with three Rs 1000 cr films

As Dhurandhar crosses Rs 1200 crore, Sanjay Dutt joins Deepika Padukone with three Rs 1000 crore films, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas

As Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar storms past Rs 1200 crore at the global box office, the conversation around the film’s historic run has shifted beyond just its lead stars. While Ranveer Singh has joined the elite Rs 1000 crore club with the film, the bigger takeaway is how Dhurandhar quietly strengthens Sanjay Dutt’s already formidable box office record.

Sanjay Dutt’s consistent presence in mega blockbusters

With Dhurandhar crossing the Rs 1000 crore milestone, Sanjay Dutt now features in three films that have achieved the landmark — KGF: Chapter 2, Jawan and Dhurandhar. Whether as a central antagonist, a key supporting player, or even in a cameo, Dutt’s films have repeatedly found massive global audiences. This makes him the Indian actor with the highest number of Rs 1000 crore grossers to his credit.

From menacing villains to pivotal roles

Sanjay Dutt’s journey through these blockbusters highlights his range. In KGF 2, his portrayal of Adheera became one of the film’s most talked-about elements. Dhurandhar once again placed him in a crucial role that added gravitas to the narrative, while Jawan saw him make a brief but impactful appearance. Despite the varying screen time, all three films went on to deliver historic numbers.

A parallel streak with Deepika Padukone

Interestingly, Deepika Padukone mirrors Sanjay Dutt’s achievement with three Rs 1000 crore films — Pathaan, Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD. Like Dutt, she also featured in Jawan in a cameo. With upcoming projects such as King and the untitled Allu Arjun–Atlee collaboration, her box office tally could soon see another jump.

RGV Warns Audiences Ahead of Dhurandhar 2: “This Fear Will Stay With You”

Where Dhurandhar stands in the Rs 1000 crore league

The Rs 1000 crore club is largely populated by pan-India spectacles. Prabhas leads with Baahubali 2 and Kalki 2898 AD, while Allu Arjun (Pushpa 2) and Jr NTR–Ram Charan (RRR) also feature prominently. Bollywood’s contributions include Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan, Aamir Khan’s Dangal, and now Dhurandhar, which adds Ranveer Singh’s name to the list.

Sandalwood’s lone entry and a familiar face

Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 remains the only Sandalwood film to breach the Rs 1000 crore mark — and it also happens to be one of Sanjay Dutt’s landmark films. His performance as Adheera played a significant role in elevating the film’s scale and impact, reinforcing his association with large-scale cinematic universes. Go to Source
