Watch: Video of Indian woman walking alone at 3 am in Singapore goes viral

Video of Indian woman walking alone at 3 am in Singapore goes viral; social media asks, ‘Can this happen in India?’

An Indian woman’s video has gone viral, in which she is seen walking late at night in Singapore without any worry which triggered a storm on social media on the topic of women’s safety. The clip has gained over 800,000 views. The woman named Kritika Jain shared a short video on her Instagram account where she is seen walking alone on the streets of Singapore at around 3 am. The roads are quiet, clean, and almost empty. In the video, she looks calm and relaxed and says she did not feel scared at all while walking alone at that hour.Kritika explained how she was surprised by how normal this felt in Singapore. She said she did not keep checking behind her or feel alert all the time. According to her, this sense of safety is something she rarely experienced in India, especially late at night. She added that this freedom is more valuable than tall buildings, shopping malls, or tourist attractions. The video gained millions of views. Many people praised Singapore for being one of the safest countries in the world. Several women commented that they also felt comfortable walking alone there, even late at night. At the same time, the video led to serious discussions online. Some users compared Singapore’s safety with Indian cities and said women in India still struggle to feel safe after dark. Others said safety should not be a privilege but a basic right for everyone.

Social media reactions:

  • That’s the power of cost of living
  • Singapore is a unique and very safe country.
  • The punishments and fines are strict, and they are given quickly — unlike in our home country.
  • I wish the rest of the world could be as safe as Singapore.
  • And many in the western world criticise our laws as being too strict & restrictive. Well, at least we are free to walk around any neighbourhood at any time of the day!
  • I guess ur right..my sis is living there for almost 4yrs telling the same thing too. I’m worried most of the time but she told me it’s the safest country & the best ever place to live.
  • I always think of this and feel grateful and also when in crowded places nobody makes excuses to touch anyone
