‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ fume over DELETED kiss

'K-Pop Demon Hunters' fume over DELETED Rumi and Jinu kiss; Sparks hopes for EPIC reunion in sequel

‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ has the internet hooked, not only to its chart-topping songs, but also its film that has broken records and toped OTT streaming charts.Amidst the frenzy surrounding the film, news of a deleted kiss between lead characters Rumi and Jinu has ignited quite the chatter online. Fans of the hit film have been fuming over the characters’ being ‘denied’ an emotional kiss while on a date night. However, this has only added to the anticipation about what might unfold next in a possible sequel.

Director reveals why the kiss removed

Creative director Maggie Kang confirmed the existence of the deleted kiss during a recent Reddit AMA. As Koreaboo reports, Kang stated that the decision to omit the scene was deliberate, “The decision boiled down to the fact that showing less, is sometimes more.” Kang explained that including the romantic moment could have overshadowed the film’s central themes of self-acceptance, identity, and emotional resilience.

Fan Reaction and Speculation

Fans worldwide who have caught on to the ‘K-Pop Demon Hunter’ trend have been taking to their handles to express their shock over the deletion of the intimate moment. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT RUMI AND JINU WERE SUPPOSED TO KISS THREE TIMES AND THEY CUT IT OFF THE MOVIE?” Another said in disbelief, “I still can’t believe that rumi and jinu never got to kiss in the movie.”Still another quipped, “kpop demon hunters director robbed us of rumi jinu kiss scenes…” while another added, “What do you mean we almost had a date at the aquarium? And with a kiss.” Others quickly shared theories that Jinu might still return, pointing to subtle visuals, like the survival of his demon pets, Derpy and Sussy, as clues hinting at his possible resurrection. Others noted that the pets were seen sitting above a signboard that read, “Comeback”, which could indicate that the Jinu and the boys could return.

Jinu’s Potential Return

The emotional weight and unresolved narrative threads, particularly surrounding Jinu’s fate, have sparked widespread speculation that he might return in a sequel. Ahn Hyo-Seop who voices Jinu, shared his thoughts with USA Today, “I mean, Jinu gave his soul… As someone who loves Jinu as a fan too, of course, I would love to see him come back. But it’s not up to me.”Although not official, ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ sequel is said to be on the cards. However, the next movie is rumoured to be a theatrical release, considering that the movie and the songs have topped all streaming charts and are even creating Oscar buzz. Go to Source
