Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd reported domestic passenger vehicle sales of 50,046 units in December 2025, up 13.1 per cent from 44,230 units a year earlier. Including exports, total passenger vehicle sales for the month stood at 50,519 units, compared with 44,289 units in December 2024.

For the third quarter of FY26, the company said passenger vehicle sales in the domestic and international markets rose to 171,013 units, from 139,829 units in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Domestic volumes during the quarter increased to 168,616 units, while international business sales stood at 2,397 units, up from 405 units in Q3 FY25.

EV sales

Electric vehicle sales, including domestic and international markets, reached 6,906 units in December, compared with 5,562 units a year earlier. For Q3 FY26, EV volumes rose to 24,103 units, from 16,119 units in the same period last year.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, said calendar year 2025 marked the company’s fifth consecutive year of record annual sales, with 587,218 units sold, including 81,125 electric vehicles.

He said the rollout of GST 2.0 in late Q2 FY26 supported momentum in the third quarter, with quarterly wholesales reaching 171,103 units and retail registrations crossing 200,000 units for the first time. According to Chandra, December recorded year-on-year growth of 22 per cent, while retail sales exceeded wholesales, reducing dealer inventory to about 18 days.

Chandra added that during Q3 FY26, CNG volumes crossed 47,000 units, overall SUV volumes rose 18 per cent, and EV sales grew about 50 per cent year on year. He also said the quarter saw product introductions, including petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari, as well as the launch of the Sierra.

Looking ahead, Chandra said the company expects deliveries of recently introduced products to begin in Q4 FY26, supported by further launches planned during the year.
