In a shocking turn of events, a massive fire broke out in a 23-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Andheri West on Thursday morning. The accident led to panic among the residents, but fortunately, the emergency response was timely and was provided by the authorities. Reportedly, around 40 people were rescued from the fire, and among those was filmmaker Sandeep Singh, who is known for movies like Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Mary Kom,’ Aishwarya Rai’s ‘Sarbhit,’ Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Aligarh,’ Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Jhund’ and more.

According to a PTI report, the officials mentioned that it all started when fire erupted around 10 am at Sorrento Tower near Country Club on Veera Desai Road.Further, a civic official in his statement gave few details about the incident. He mentioned that through the staircase, around 30 to 40 people were reduced from the 16th floor. Meanwhile, three others, including a woman, were evacuated and brought to safety from the 15th floor, using a breathing apparatus.The fire affected the wiring and other components in the electrical shaft between the 10th and 21st floors, routers, shoe racks, and wooden furniture near the duct on various floors, he said. It gutted the 12th, 13th, and 14th floors, he added.The 14th floor houses the premises of filmmaker Sandeep Singh.

Sandeep Singh, who was earlier hospitalised for hernia treatment, had been discharged from Kokilaben. Amid the fire incident and the chaos that followed, his friends and television stars Ankita Lonkhande and her husband Vicky Jain came to his support. The couple took the filmmaker immediately to their house as a precautionary measure.

Cause of fire remains a mystery

To bring down the fire, at least four fire engines with other equipments were deployed by the brigade. At 11.37 am, the fire was put out completely, confirmed and official, before adding that the cause behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. Go to Source
