Actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found dead at their Los Angeles home on Sunday, with reports alleging that police were treating the case as an ‘apparent homicide’. Michele and Rob killed by son While the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is still investigating the ‘apparent homicide’, according to a report on PEOPLE, multiple sources who have spoken with family members allege that the couple was killed by their son, Nick. As per the report, Nick Reiner has spoken openly about his long struggle with drug addiction. In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, he revealed that his substance abuse began in his early teens and led to years of instability, including periods of homelessness and repeated stints in rehabilitation. Rob Reiner and Michele’s death confirmed by familyThe Los Angeles Fire Department was reportedly called to the actor’s residence at around 3.30 pm on December 14 to provide medical assistance. On arrival, emergency responders reportedly discovered a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman dead at the scene. At the time, the identities of the deceased were kept under wraps. The victims were later identified as Rob and Michele, with the family confirming the tragic news in a statement that read, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”Rob and Michele Reiner were parents to three children – Jake, Nick and Romy. Rob also has a daughter, Tracy, from his first marriage to filmmaker Penny Marshall.’Homicide investigation ongoingThe Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division is currently leading the investigation.
