Man who torched AP Dhillon's car in his BC home was living in Canada on expired students' visa, fled to India, reveal court documents

Vikram Sharma, the Indian-origin man who fled to India after he was identified as one of the accused who torched Punjabi musician Ap Dhillon’s vehicles at his British Columbia home at the behest of the Lawrence Boshnoi gang, was at that time living in Canada illegally. His student visa expired in April 2024 and he was seen setting fire to Dhillon’s car in September 2024. The details were revealed in a court hearing on the case. The 23-year-old is believed to be in India, the prosecutors said. “Prior to the offence, Mr Sharma had provided some fraudulent documents to Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada trying to re-establish his student visa, but because they were determined to be fraudulent, he was required to have an in-person attendance meeting,” the prosecutor said. Sharma was not alone; co-accused Abjeet Kingra was present as the duo fired at the singer’s house when Dhillon was not there. But Dhillon’s roommate narrowly missed injury. Kingra’s lawyer told a judge that he came to Canada in 2019 to study but he fell in with the wrong crowd as he was struggling to find employment. Two months after the arson, Kingra was arrested while he was on his way to Toronto Airport and Sharma already left the country. Kingra is serving six years in jail after pleading guilty to the attack. Kingra also wrote a handwritten apology letter to the victim and community. “I did a horrible and terrifying thing that could lead to harm, injured or kill someone that was never my intention,” Kingra wrote.”This is a big mistake that not only scared victim and his family but the community too,” he wrote. The court was also briefed on why AP Dhillon was targeted by the Bishnoi gang. Dhillon featured Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a music video.
