‘Avatar 3’ bookings open; film to take a bite out of ‘Dhurandhar’

'Avatar: Fire and Ash' advance booking opens to soaring ticket prices; film to take a bite out of Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar'

James Cameron is all set to ignite the Indian box office with his film ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’. With a huge fan following, great early reviews and buzz around the film, the advance bookings have officially opened in India. According to reports, the film that will be screened in premium IMAX formats, has opened to soaring ticket prices. With the surge in demand for tickets to this ‘visual spectacle’, premium IMAX 3D tickets for night shows in Delhi have climbed to a staggering Rs 2,400. Meanwhile, regular seats for the same show are priced at Rs 1,000. Meanwhile, Mumabi isn’t too far behind with tickets starting at Rs 400 and going up to Rs 1,810.

‘Fire and Ash’ set to take over Indian box office

As per booking site, over 1.3 million fans have expressed interest in the films. If these translate to ticket sales, the film could just set itself up to record one of the biggest openings for a Hollywood release in India. As per reports on Sacnilk, ‘Fire and Ash’ could even look forward to striking an impressive Rs 500 crore run at the Indian box office. With this, the film could even beat the likes of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to become one of the most successful Hollywood franchises to launch in India.

What this could mean for ‘Dhurandhar’

However, if the numbers hold true, then the surge in footfall for the Hollywood film, could take business away from the Bollywood spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar’. The film starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt in lead roles, is currently running rampage at the box office. In just its first weekend, the film managed to shoot past the Rs 100 crore mark. In just 5 days, the film has already made it past the Rs 150 crore net mark in India and has already scored an impressive gross total collection of Rs 224 crore at the worldwide box office. The film still has one more weekend and a long working week to rake in the big bucks before it faces off against ‘Avatar’.

About ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’

‘Fire and Ash’ is the third instalment in the blockbuster franchise. It follows ‘Avatar’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. The film takes audiences deeper into Pandora with the introduction of a new civilisation – the Mangkwan clan, also known as the Ash People. This fierce and resilient clan reveals Pandora’s darker, more complex side, with Varang, a formidable matriarch whose power and pain shape the emotional core of the narrative. Varang is portrayed by Oona Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin. Her performance is already drawing great early reviews, making her one of the most striking additions to the franchise.’Avatar: Fire and Ash’ will have a wide release in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada on December 19.
