He pointed to two instances, Israel’s 12-day military campaign in June 2025, briefly joined by the US, and another escalation earlier this year, as examples of attacks occurring amid talks.

“Attacking Iran’s vital infrastructure… directly targets the Iranian people,” he said, calling such actions not only a war crime but also a trigger for wider instability.

“They generate instability, increase human and economic costs, and perpetuate cycles of tension… This is not a demonstration of strength; it is a sign of strategic bewilderment,” he added.

Comes Hours After Trump’s Fresh Threat

The letter was released just hours after Trump escalated his rhetoric, warning that the US would continue “blasting Iran into oblivion” unless the Strait of Hormuz is reopened.

Trump also claimed that Iran’s “new regime president” had sought a ceasefire, an assertion swiftly denied by Iranian officials.
