Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified following reports of US military strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. According to multiple reports, US forces carried out what they described as “self-defense strikes” against Iranian military facilities on Qeshm Island, including drone and command-and-control sites linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Amid the growing confrontation, US President Donald Trump renewed pressure on Tehran over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, warning that Iran must ensure the waterway remains open to international shipping. Previous statements from Trump indicated that failure to keep Hormuz open could result in stronger US military action. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, making any disruption a major international concern. Reports also indicate that Iran and the US have exchanged missile and drone strikes in the region, while diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions remain fragile.
