Sudan Crisis Deepens: Over 460 Killed In Hospital Attack As Paramilitary Forces Tighten Grip On Darfur

The civil war in Sudan has escalated to catastrophic levels, with more than 460 civilians killed in a brutal assault on a hospital in Western Darfur, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The massacre occurred after Rapid Support Forces (RSF) a powerful paramilitary group seized control of the city earlier this week. The RSF, engaged in a fierce power struggle with the Sudanese army since April 2023, has recently captured several strategically vital towns across Darfur, further destabilizing the region. Human rights organizations report widespread atrocities, including targeted attacks on civilians and medical facilities, though both the RSF and Sudanese military have denied these claims. The ongoing violence has displaced thousands and left humanitarian agencies struggling to deliver aid due to security threats and damaged infrastructure. The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access, warning that Sudan is “on the brink of total collapse” if the fighting continues.
