Large-scale demonstrations have intensified across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where members of the Awami Action Committee and local residents have organized protests demanding economic relief, lower electricity tariffs, reduced taxes, food subsidies, and greater local rights. Protesters gathered in Muzaffarabad and other parts of the region, raising slogans and calling for policy changes while expressing dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of local issues. According to reports, clashes broke out after security forces attempted to disperse demonstrators, with allegations that tear gas and live ammunition were used against protesters. Claims have also emerged of casualties and injuries during the unrest, although the exact figures remain independently unverified. Authorities have reportedly imposed restrictions, including temporary suspension of mobile and internet services and increased security deployment in several areas to control the situation. The demonstrations reflect longstanding grievances over governance, resource allocation, and economic conditions in the region. Despite the crackdown, protest leaders have vowed to continue their movement, insisting that they will pursue their demands through further rallies and public demonstrations.
