Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after the United States launched major airstrikes on multiple military targets inside Iran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the operation was carried out on the direct orders of President Donald Trump. The strikes came after Iran allegedly targeted a commercial oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz with a suicide drone, despite recent hopes of a ceasefire between the two countries. According to CENTCOM, US fighter jets struck Iran’s surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, and drone storage facilities. Iranian state media also confirmed that airstrikes had taken place. The latest developments have significantly heightened the risk of direct military confrontation between the United States and Iran.
