Akhil Akkineni on ‘Sisindri 2’: ‘If I’m blessed with a son, I’d love to make the sequel with him’

After a three year gap, the Tollywood actor Akhil Akkineni has made his grand comeback with ‘Lenin’ and in a recent podcast appearance, he opened up about his wish on making a sequel to the iconic film ‘Sisindri’. Although Akhil was only eight to nine months old when the film was made, he said it continues to hold immense emotional value for him and his family. The actor recalled that he was far too young to understand filmmaking at the time. However, the film has remained one of the defining memories associated with his childhood.Looking back at the journey, Akhil said ‘Sisindri’ will always occupy a special place in his heart because of the emotions and memories attached to it.

A dream to make ‘Sisindri 2’

During a chat in Raw Talks, Akhil also revealed a personal dream that he hopes to fulfil one day. The actor shared that he has already discussed the idea with his wife, Zainab. He said, “‘If I’m blessed with a son, I’d love to make the sequel with him'” Even so, Akhil expressed hope that life would one day give him the opportunity to recreate the emotional journey of Sisindri through a sequel featuring his own son.

Behind-the-scenes memories from ‘Sisindri’

Akhil also spoke about how ‘Sisindri’ was filmed when he was still an infant. He recalled that he remained awake for only a few hours every day, and the entire shooting schedule was carefully planned around those brief periods when he was active and comfortable. The actor remembered how his parents helped the filmmakers capture natural expressions on camera. He said Nagarjuna would stand behind the camera and entertain him with funny gestures whenever they needed him to smile. For emotional scenes, Amala Akkineni would leave in a car. Watching his mother drive away would make him cry naturally, and those genuine emotions were used in the film.Akhil also revealed that ‘Sisindri’ played a meaningful role in his family’s journey. According to him, the film’s success later helped his mother establish the Blue Cross animal welfare organisation.

Akhil Akkineni on ‘Agent’s disappointing run

During the same podcast, Akhil also looked back at ‘Agent’, which failed to meet expectations at the box office. The actor admitted that he had sensed the film’s shortcomings well before its release. After watching the first edit, he realised that certain aspects were not working as expected and even discussed his concerns with people close to him.He said, “Didn’t I realise it wasn’t working by the time I watched the first edit or saw the scenes? Of course I did. I had my doubts. I knew something wasn’t right, definitely before the release. I shared those concerns with people, even with some of our mutual friends. I told them it felt different.”

Why walking away was never an option

Despite recognising the issues early, Akhil said quitting the project was never something he considered. He explained that filmmaking is a collective effort involving hundreds of people, and he believed it was his responsibility to stay committed until the very end. Go to Source
