Middle East Tensions: Israel Captures Strategic Beaufort Castle in Southern Lebanon

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following recent developments in southern Lebanon. Israel reportedly captured the strategically important Beaufort Castle, marking its deepest military incursion into Lebanon in 26 years. After taking control of the site, Israeli forces established a bunker and raised their national flag there. In response, Hezbollah launched a drone strike near the castle, targeting the Israeli position. The group also released videos claiming to show the attack. The situation has further strained relations between Iran and the United States. Iran strongly criticized Israel’s military operations in Lebanon and Gaza and announced that it is suspending ongoing indirect or backchannel talks with the United States. According to Iranian state media, Tehran stated that no peace negotiations will resume until Israel halts its military campaigns and the conditions for a ceasefire are met. Iran also warned that it is considering renewed restrictions on key maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. These developments have heightened regional tensions and raised concerns about broader instability in the Middle East.
