Fresh diplomatic efforts are underway as Iranian negotiators have arrived in Doha for crucial talks linked to a possible peace agreement with the United States. According to reports, Iran’s three-member delegation is discussing key issues including the Strait of Hormuz, enriched uranium, and billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets. Sources suggest Tehran is attempting to finalize a 14-point draft agreement, though the Iranian Foreign Ministry has clarified that an immediate deal is unlikely. Officials also stated that discussions are not yet fully centered on nuclear issues and that a broader 60-day negotiation phase may follow if initial consensus is achieved. The biggest obstacle remains Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. Donald Trump has demanded that Iran either hand over its enriched uranium to the US for destruction or jointly destroy it under international supervision. Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful and seeks more detailed discussions before accepting restrictions. Major disagreements also continue over control of the Strait of Hormuz, naval restrictions, environmental fees, and the release of frozen Iranian funds blocked under US sanctions.
