In a major breakthrough, US President Donald Trump has announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran, halting planned military strikes just before the deadline. The announcement was made via a Truth Social post, where Trump confirmed that bombing operations scheduled for the night have been suspended. The ceasefire is conditional upon Iran’s immediate and secure reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global trade route. Trump stated that both nations have already achieved significant progress, with most contentious issues nearly resolved. He also revealed that Iran has submitted a 10-point proposal, which will serve as the basis for further negotiations during this pause. The decision reportedly followed discussions involving Shehbaz Sharif, though the primary agreement remains bilateral. Trump emphasized that the US has met its military objectives and is now close to securing a long-term peace deal.
