Breaking: First Round of US-Iran Talks Concludes in Switzerland

The first round of talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland has concluded, with mediators Qatar and Pakistan describing the discussions as constructive and positive. According to their joint statement, both sides have agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within the next 60 days. Plans are also underway to establish a high-level committee that will address issues related to Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief and monitoring mechanisms through specialized working groups. Qatar and Pakistan further indicated that technical-level negotiations will continue in Switzerland and that efforts are being made to ensure safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said mediation efforts had contributed to progress toward reducing tensions related to Lebanon. Despite the diplomatic progress, US President Donald Trump warned that Iran must restrain regional proxy groups or face stronger military action. Tehran responded by stating that it would not be deterred by threats and would continue defending its interests, highlighting the contrast between ongoing negotiations and continued political and military rhetoric.
