Bangladesh election results: Bangladesh is conducting its 13th parliamentary elections, with vote counting still in progress. Although the Election Commission has yet to make a formal announcement, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is heading towards a decisive victory, leading in more than 200 of the 300 parliamentary seats.

BNP leader Tarique Rahman is poised to become the next Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He has won both constituencies he contested, Dhaka-17 and Bogra-6, strengthening his claim to the top office.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Salary and Benefits

The salaries of constitutional authorities in Bangladesh, including the president, prime minister, speaker, lawmakers and Supreme Court judges, are governed by the Prime Minister (Remuneration and Privileges) Act, 2016.

Under the current provisions, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh receives a monthly salary of 1.15 lakh Taka, which is approximately Rs 85,120. Earlier, the salary stood at 58,600 Taka (around Rs 43,374) before it was revised during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the same legislation.

For comparison, the Prime Minister of India earns a monthly salary of Rs 1.66 lakh, along with additional benefits such as a personal staff, Special Protection Group (SPG) security cover, an exclusive aircraft known as Air India One, and an official residence.

Allowances and Total Monthly Income

In addition to the basic salary, the Bangladesh Prime Minister is entitled to several allowances and facilities, including official accommodation, housing allowance, daily allowance, insurance and other government benefits.

When combined, the total monthly income amounts to approximately 3,05,000 Taka or more. According to some reports, this is equivalent to roughly 2,500 US dollars.

Official Residence

The Prime Minister is provided with a designated government residence. The government bears all expenses related to maintenance, security, furnishing and other arrangements associated with the residence.

Transport Facilities

A government vehicle is provided for official use. Separate vehicles are also made available for family members and personal staff, with all associated costs covered by the state. Travel allowances are granted for official domestic and international visits. Annual insurance coverage for air travel is also provided at government expense.

Medical Benefits

The Prime Minister and family members are entitled to free medical treatment at any government or recognised hospital in Bangladesh. If recommended by a doctor, treatment abroad can also be arranged at government expense.

Staff and Personnel

The Prime Minister has the authority to appoint personal and household staff as required. Salaries and related expenses for these employees are borne by the government.

Security Arrangements

Security for the Prime Minister is handled by the Special Security Force (SSF), which ensures protection during both domestic and international travel.

Discretionary Grant

The Prime Minister is also allocated an annual discretionary grant of approximately 1.50 crore Taka to be utilised in accordance with prescribed rules.

Under the Bangladesh Prime Minister Facilities 2026 framework, the office-holder receives not only a fixed salary but also comprehensive support in housing, security, healthcare, transport and administrative assistance, enabling the effective discharge of official duties.
