‘Chennai Love Story’ X review: Netizens share first reactions; Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya impress

‘Chennai Love Story’, starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya, has hit theatres and is already generating discussion on X (formerly Twitter). The romantic drama is written by Sai Rajesh, while Ravi Namburi makes his directorial debut with the film. The project also marks the reunion of Sai Rajesh and producer SKN after the National Award-winning ‘Baby’. The film has received a largely positive response from early viewers. Here’s a look at some of the reactions shared online.

Viewers defend the film’s second-half twist

One of the earliest reviews suggested that the mixed reception to the second half stems from the film’s unique storytelling rather than weak execution. One Twitter review read, “#ChennaiLoveStory: 2nd Half ki mixed response ravadaniki mainly 2 reasons: Unique Concept : Never-before-seen in Indian cinema. The triangle drama is also written very originally and isn’t easy to digest for the regular mass audience. ” It further read, “Extraordinary 1st Half : After watching the first half and building an emotional connection with Steven & Nivi, it’s hard to accept the turn the story takes in the 2nd half. So, those who are watching this film, give it 15 minutes at the start of the 2nd half. Accept what happened and try to get involved in the drama between the three characters. Then, #ChennaiLoveStory will definitely end up as one of the best classic emotional love dramas in recent years..”

Performances and music receive appreciation

Another moviegoer, who attended a premiere show, praised the performances of the lead actors. The review read, “Watched the premiere of #ChennaiLoveStory last night. The first half was a enjoyable .@Kiran_Abbavaram anna is so lovable as an innocent, childish guy character , and his caring nature towards the heroine is beautifully portrayed. Before you even realize it, the first half is over. Jigithara is a banger, and Vadhalane along with the sequence before the song is one of the best moments in the film. Steven Shankar’s character is another major highlight. Definitely You will love him.””Coming to the second half, gowri Priya’s entry is an absolute banger. It’s a lengthy sequence, and she completely owns it.Her performance is outstanding throughout the second half. .”The review further stated, “The fun and happiest moments between Kiran and the heroine are well written, and the unexpected action block before the climax adds a little surprise. The climax is packed with emotions, and every actor delivers their best. Overall, the first half is superb, while the second half is good with a little bit lag(5-10 Mins). It’s a pure love story filled with emotions and told in a refreshing way.If you’re looking for a heartfelt love story and a good theatrical watch, don’t miss #ChennaiLoveStory. .”

Some viewers wanted a stronger climax

Not every reaction was entirely glowing. One social media user felt the film maintained its grip for most of the runtime but could have ended on a stronger note. The user wrote, “The first half moved along without any major complaints. In the second half, there were some minor hiccups.. but that’s fine… that journey too will be quite enjoyable. Writing across 24 episodes deserves higher marks. The conversations mesh together well. That’s why… even though it has a routine feel – the scenes hold up. The climax should have been written anew.If they’d come up with an out-of-the-box idea there.. like Geetanjali, Brindavan Colony.. this movie too would have stood the test of time. Even now, it hasn’t been surpassed. No audience member who bought a ticket will leave disappointed.”

Vasu in important roles. The story has been written by Sai Rajesh, while Ravi Namburi has directed the film in his debut outing. Mani Sharma has composed the music for the romantic drama.
