Alert: Iran Rejects Talks Under Threat as Qalibaf Accuses Trump of Ceasefire Violations

Tensions have escalated further ahead of the anticipated US-Iran peace talks as Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued a strong statement rejecting negotiations under pressure. Speaking just before the proposed second round of talks in Islamabad, Qalibaf made it clear that Iran will not engage in dialogue “under the shadow of threats,” signaling a hardened stance from Tehran. Qalibaf also revealed that over the past two weeks, Iran has been preparing to unveil new strategic measures on the battlefield, indicating that military readiness remains a key factor alongside diplomacy. His remarks come at a crucial moment, with a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States nearing its end. Directly targeting Donald Trump, Qalibaf accused the US of attempting to impose its conditions on Iran, a move he claimed has failed. He further alleged that recent actions, including a reported blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, violate the terms of the ceasefire agreement. According to him, Washington is trying to turn the upcoming Islamabad talks into what he described as a “surrender table.” The strong rhetoric has added another layer of uncertainty to the already fragile diplomatic situation. With no confirmation yet on whether Iranian representatives will attend the talks, the prospects for meaningful dialogue remain unclear. As the ceasefire deadline approaches, Qalibaf’s comments highlight the deep mistrust between the two sides. The coming hours are expected to be critical in determining whether diplomacy can prevail or if tensions will escalate further in the region.
