Suryakumar Yadav Enters Parenthood; Couple Welcomes First Child

India’s T20I captain and Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav and his wife, Devisha Shetty, have been blessed with a baby girl. The couple welcomed their first child on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The news comes at a significant time during the ongoing IPL 2026 season. While Suryakumar has faced a challenging run of form on the field, this personal milestone has brought immense joy to the “SKY” household.

Absence from Squad

Due to the expected delivery, the star batter did not travel with the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad to Raipur for their upcoming clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scheduled for May 10.

Reports indicate that Suryakumar stayed back in Mumbai to be with Devisha and their newborn, and his availability for the remainder of the IPL season currently remains uncertain.

Year of Highs

2026 has already been a momentous year for the 35-year-old cricketer. Earlier in January, he led the Indian national team to a historic T20 World Cup title, defeating New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad. Adding a “little princess” to the family further cements 2026 as one of the most memorable years of his life.

Suryakumar and Devisha, who were college sweethearts after meeting at Mumbai’s R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics in 2010, tied the knot in July 2016. Their journey of a decade-long partnership has now reached this beautiful new milestone.

Fraternity Wishes

As the news broke, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages from teammates, former cricketers, and fans. While Mumbai Indians will miss his services on the field in the coming days, the franchise and the cricketing community have sent their warmest regards to the new parents.
