MS Dhoni’s Rumored Relationship With A Bollywood Star

MS Dhoni Dating History: Long before the era of “DeepVeer” or Captain Cool’s stable life with Sakshi Dhoni, the Indian media was obsessed with a different power couple. In 2007, as MS Dhoni led India to a historic T20 World Cup win and Deepika Padukone debuted with Om Shanti Om, reports of a high-profile romance between the two stars took the nation by storm.

While neither Dhoni nor Deepika ever confirmed a romantic relationship, the evidence from that era remains a favorite topic for fans even today.

The ‘Crush’ That Started It All

The rumors began when Dhoni, then known for his iconic long locks, reportedly confessed to having a massive crush on Deepika Padukone. According to a 2007 Rediff report, Dhoni was so mesmerized by Deepika that he allegedly asked Shah Rukh Khan for a special screening of her debut film.

The interaction did not stop at a movie screening. In a moment that sent the paparazzi into a frenzy, Deepika was spotted cheering for Dhoni from the stands during a T20 international against Australia at the Brabourne Stadium. Shortly after, the duo even walked the ramp together at a high-profile fashion event, fueling more speculation.

The ‘Haircut’ Mystery: A Gesture of Love?

One of the most famous urban legends of Indian cricket involves Dhoni’s decision to chop off his famous long hair. Many reports at the time claimed that it was Deepika who didn’t like the long tresses and asked him to go for a shorter look.

“Dhoni was so struck by her that he allegedly had his long hair cut at her behest,” states a report by IWMBuzz. However, these claims were never verified by the cricketer, who simply maintained that he wanted a change in style.

Moving on to Fairytales

Despite the intense scrutiny, both stars handled the rumors with immense grace. Deepika Padukone eventually moved on to her legendary relationship with Ranbir Kapoor before marrying Ranveer Singh in 2018. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni found his life partner in Sakshi Singh, tying the knot in a private ceremony in 2010.

While we may never know if there was a “technical” date or just a mutual admiration, the 2007 link-up remains one of the most fascinating “what if” stories in the history of Bollywood and Cricket.
