The changing weather has a direct impact on dairy animals. Falling temperatures during cold and rainy days disturb their body’s energy balance, often leading to a decline in milk production. Humidity and cold conditions also make animals more prone to illness. However, maintaining proper diet, hygiene, and care can preserve the animal’s health and milk production.
Experts emphasise that during such times, farmers must provide animals with warm, dry shelter, nutritious feed, and adequate clean water. Regular vaccination and health check-ups are also crucial. With proper care, animals remain healthy and milk production stays steady, ensuring the farmer’s income is not affected.

To maintain milk yield during seasonal changes, animals should be given a balanced diet that includes green fodder, dry grass, grains, and a mineral mixture. Clean, slightly warm water should be provided, while vaccination and timely deworming remain essential. Some home remedies can also support animal health and boost milk production.
Remedy To Boost Milk Yield
A traditional mixture made from seven common kitchen ingredients is said to be highly beneficial for dairy animals and effective in increasing milk production. To prepare it, lightly roast fenugreek seeds, fennel, and carom seeds (ajwain). After cooling, grind them into a powder and mix with amla powder, black salt, and turmeric. Finally, add small pieces of jaggery and store the mixture in a container.
Feed one tablespoon of this mixture to animals twice a day, after their morning and evening meals. It can also be given by mixing with bran or jaggery. Within 3 to 7 days, results become visible, and animals show improved appetite, better digestion, and higher milk production. The remedy is also effective in eliminating gas problems.
How It Works
Fenugreek and fennel aid digestion, while carom seeds relieve gas-related issues. Amla boosts immunity and provides strength, turmeric acts as a natural healer, and jaggery improves energy. Alongside this, experts advise farmers to keep changing the animals’ resting place to ensure hygiene and reduce the risk of infections.
