Constipation is a widespread ailment that nearly everyone experiences at one time or another. Although laxatives can be an easy solution, yoga can also offer a soothing and non-pharmacological alternative. Some poses not only facilitate easier bowel movements but also enhance digestion and alleviate bloating. The good news is that the exercises are gentle for beginners, and they work.

According to Hindustan Times, Health Shots consulted Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, author, columnist, and founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, to understand how yoga can support gut health. He explained, “These quick poses can help you poop faster when constipation kicks in and can let your body relax.”

  3. Cat-Cow Pose (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana)– Alternating movements massage the intestines.– Releases trapped gas and eliminates bloating.
  4. Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana)– Compresses the abdomen to enhance digestion.– Releases sluggish bowels with deep breathing.
