Navratri Day 1 Puja Vidhi And Aarti: Shardiya Navratri begins today. The festival will commence with the worship of Maa Shailputri, a form of goddess Durga, often depicted riding a bull and carrying a trident and a lotus. The colour of the first day of Shardiya Navratri is white. Below, we share more details about Shailputri puja.

Shardiya Navratri Day 1: Puja Vidhi

1. The Muhurat for Ghatasthapana, is from 5.25 a.m. to 7.16 a.m, as per Drikpanchang.

2. For Ghatasthapana, a Kalash (pitcher) is filled with holy water, betel nuts, Durva grass, perfume, and coins.

3. Five mango leaves and a green coconut is placed on the pitcher, which is then placed above a grain pot.

4. An image or idol of Maa Shailputri is established in the eastern direction.

5. Devotees pray to Lord Ganesha to remove any obstacles.

6. Goddess Shailputri’s mantras  are chanted, followed by aarti.

वन्दे वाञ्छितलाभाय चन्द्रार्धकृतशेखराम्।

वृषारूढां शूलधरां शैलपुत्रीं यशस्विनीम्॥

शैलपुत्री माँ बैल असवार। करें देवता जय जय कार॥

शिव-शंकर की प्रिय भवानी। तेरी महिमा किसी ने न जानी॥

पार्वती तू उमा कहलावें। जो तुझे सुमिरे सो सुख पावें॥

रिद्धि सिद्धि प्रदान करे तू। दया करें धनवान करें तू॥

सोमवार को शिव संग प्यारी। आरती जिसने तेरी उतारी॥

उसकी सगरी आस पुजा दो। सगरे दुःख तकलीफ मिटा दो॥
