Milind Soman continues to redefine what it means to stay fit beyond 50. Breakfast: Fruits Over Everything

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Milind Soman shared his approach to starting the day. “I eat a whole papaya, or maybe two if they’re small. I eat half a watermelon because watermelons are big. I eat whatever seasonal fruit there is. Suppose it’s mango season, then I have five or six mangoes. I eat a lot of bananas,” he explained.

His breakfast philosophy emphasises fresh, seasonal fruits over processed options. If he feels hungry afterwards, he supplements with muesli, dry fruits, or cereal. Milind isn’t counting calories; instead, he focuses on quality, satiety, and the natural availability of foods. This approach ensures his body is nourished, energised, and ready for long workouts or beach runs.

Lunch and Dinner: Simplicity and Lightness

For lunch and dinner, Milind keeps meals light and easily digestible. “I try to stay away from things that are heavy to digest, like non-vegetarian food,” he says. Typical meals include dal, rice, and seasonal vegetables, prepared simply without elaborate recipes or trendy superfoods.

Despite his light eating habits, Milind enjoys a wide variety of cuisines. He appreciates Maharashtrian, Bengali, Assamese, and even Japanese food, provided it’s prepared traditionally and authentically. His meals reflect balance, moderation, and a focus on whole, unprocessed ingredients.

The Philosophy Behind the Plate

Milind Soman’s diet isn’t about restriction. It’s about mindful, nutrient-rich choices that complement an active lifestyle. By combining fresh fruits, wholesome meals, and an appreciation for authenticity, he demonstrates that staying fit and energised at any age is more about consistency and quality than extreme diets or calorie obsession.
