Ganesh Chaturthi Vastu Tips 2025: Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most auspicious festivals of the year. On this occasion, families across India bring home Lord Ganesha, seeking blessings for happiness and prosperity, and the removal of obstacles. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on August 27.

While welcoming Bappa is always filled with devotion and excitement, many people are often confused about one important detail – where exactly should the idol be placed after bringing it home on the special occasion.

According to Vastu Shastra, the direction, posture and even the colour of the Ganesh idol play an important role when it comes to attracting positivity, wealth and good health. As Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 approaches, here are some simple Vastu guidelines to keep in mind.

Direction Of Ganesh Ji’s Trunk

Make sure that the trunk bends towards the left, as it is considered extremely auspicious. Not only does it represent happiness but also signifies peace and prosperity. On the other hand, a trunk that bends towards the right is associated with the energy of the sun, which is powerful but also demanding.

Right Direction To Place The Idol

Vastu experts recommend placing the Ganesh idol in the North, North-East or West direction of your home. They advise against keeping the idol in the South direction, considering it inauspicious. Also, make sure the idol is facing the main entrance or exit so that Ganesha’s blessings flow into the entire house.

Choosing The Perfect Posture

As per Vastu rules, the sitting posture of Ganpati, also known as Lalitasana, is considered ideal to bring home during the festival and the reason? It symbolises calmness and a composed mind, bringing peace and harmony to the household. On the other hand, a reclining Ganesha idol represents comfort, wealth and luxury.

Colour Of The Ganesh Idol

The colour of the idol also has a special significance. While a white idol is believed to bring peace, prosperity and happiness to your home, it is advised to have a vermilion-coloured idol in your household for self-growth and new beginnings, according to Vastu.

Other Important Details

Lord Ganesha is always accompanied by his vahan, the mouse and his favourite sweet, the modak. When you buy a Ganesh idol, make sure that both these details are present. While the mouse represents knowledge and humility, the modak symbolises the sweet rewards of devotion.

Number Of Ganesh Idols To Be Kept At Home

Vastu suggests limiting the placement of Ganesh idols to just one. Having multiple idols can disturb the balance of energy and upset Riddhi and Siddhi, the goddesses of prosperity and success who are always associated with Ganesha.

Do Not Keep Ganesh Murti At These Places

It is considered completely inauspicious to keep the Ganesh idol at bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages and areas under staircases. Such spaces have negative or stagnant energy which can block the flow of blessings. Instead, make sure the idols are placed in a clean and positive space of the house.
