Blogging has evolved far beyond a casual hobby. Today, it is a dynamic career path where engaging content can lead to brand partnerships, sponsored campaigns and even financial independence. Kritika Khurana, widely recognised as That Boho Girl and boasting over a million Instagram followers, recently shared insights into how she built a seven-figure income through content creation. In a recent post, she outlined practical tips for aspiring creators looking to carve their own path in the booming digital economy.

Kritika emphasises that having a massive following is not the key to success. “Brands care about content that connects, not just numbers,” she explains. She started her journey 11 years ago with nothing but an idea and a camera, gradually collaborating with top brands while building a seven-figure income. Her story proves that creativity, consistency and authenticity are more valuable than sheer popularity.

Why 2025 Is the Perfect Time to Become a Creator?

The creator economy is currently thriving, making it an ideal moment to enter the space. Kritika highlights the following statistics to illustrate the opportunity:

  • 79 per cent of consumers make purchases influenced by creator content rather than traditional advertisements.
  • User-Generated Content (UGC) can increase website conversions by up to 29 per cent.
  • The UGC market is expected to grow from 9.4 billion dollars in 2025 to 46.5 billion dollars by 2034.

“Brands need creators more than ever,” Kritika notes, emphasising that authentic storytelling is shaping the future of marketing.

How Beginners Can Decide Their Rates?

One common challenge for new creators is determining fair pricing. Kritika recommends using a simple formula:

(time spent + effort + brand usage) × value you bring

For instance, if a brand wants to use your video in ads, that adds extra cost. In India, beginner UGC creators typically charge between Rs 2,500–Rs 7,000 per video, with rates increasing as experience, skills and audience engagement grow.

Multiple Income Streams Every Creator Should Explore

Affiliate Marketing – Kritika advises joining affiliate programs like Amazon, Flipkart, Nykaa or Wishlink to earn commissions ranging from 5–20 per cent. For example, a Rs 10,000 sale can translate to Rs 500–Rs 2,000 in earnings.

Brand Collaborations – This remains the largest revenue source for creators. Campaign fees can start at Rs 3,000–Rs 10,000 and scale to Rs 5–15 lakh depending on audience size and content quality. Kritika stresses, “What brands truly value is engagement and authenticity, not just numbers.”

YouTube = Evergreen Earnings – Unlike Instagram posts, YouTube videos continue generating income through ads and affiliate links for years. CPMs in India range from Rs 50 to Rs 300 per 1,000 views, making consistency the key to long-term earnings. Even maintaining a library of 20–30 videos can provide a steady income over time.

YouTube Shopping – A lesser-known revenue source, YouTube Shopping allows creators to tag products directly in videos, letting viewers shop instantly while adding extra income on top of ad revenue.

Kritika’s Advice to Aspiring Creators

Kritika’s guidance is simple and encouraging: “You don’t need millions of followers or expensive equipment to start. What you need is creativity, consistency, and the courage to share your voice. If I could start from scratch, so can you.” Her journey demonstrates that determination and authentic content can open doors that numbers alone cannot.

From College Blogger to Fashion Icon

Kritika began by sharing snippets of her life on Instagram. Her signature bohemian style, now iconic, influenced countless young women. She popularised French braids and pastel outfits, inspiring college students and fashion enthusiasts alike.

She married her long-time partner, Aditya Chhabra, in a lavish ceremony in 2022, which captivated her followers. However, she publicly announced their split within six months.
